Pinnacle 10.9.20
As the pinks darken in the sky over the Susquehanna. Breathe deep. Take it in.
Geese take flight, up river, over the tracks. Laughter from a rowdy bunch of high schoolers rolls up the hill from the rocky overlooks below.
The cicadas echo all around. One here, another behind me, another over to the right. Bouncing around. The sound.
Where is the day going? The week? What does tomorrow bring?
A wake moving along, south bound, following a bright red light downriver.
An Amish couple have been enjoying the evening near me. On their bench, they snap photos of the river, the sky and themselves. They are young. I’m not sure if they are married yet or not.
Deep pink. Shifting to lavender.
A bat erratically swoops, collecting its dinner.
Light is fading. Chill is rising. I’ll head home soon. Just one last moment to take it in. I’ll never be here, in this exact moment, place and time again.
Breathe.
